CCD Plan – Components of the CCD Plan

    • to assist participating libraries in serving the resource sharing needs of the system
    • to identify subject specializations for resource sharing
  • Responsibilities of each participating school library and the school library system in developing and maintaining a cooperative collection, which may include subject specialization, resource sharing and interlibrary loan, mutual notification, cost of materials
  • Outcomes that measure the effectiveness of the plan

Cooperative Collection Development Service

 

1. Statement of Purpose This program will assist school library media centers in building collections of print or electronic resources that are high in cost, specialized or limited in availability. These specialized collections will be housed in the library media centers of participating schools and will be available for resource sharing.

2. Scope (Participants) School Library Media Centers in Ulster County who belong to the Ulster School Library System

3. Goals

 To leverage resources for all participating libraries

 To assist participating libraries in sharing resources

 To identify specialized areas for resource sharing

4. School Library System Responsibilities

 Facilitate the establishment of local needs outside of the core curriculum collection

 Establish an advisory group of participating schools

 Provide support for material selection

 Establish and implement the acquisition, cataloging and maintenance procedures

 Maintain the Union Catalog to facilitate ILL

5. Participating School Responsibilities

 Follow procedures for the acquisition, cataloging and maintenance of the collection

 Make the materials available on the Union Catalog and for ILL

6. Periodic Evaluation The advisory group, along with the SLS Director will:

 Review collection needs every year to two years to respond to changing needs

 Evaluate the procedure process and make necessary changes

 Evaluate the value of the CCD plan to the system and individual schools

School librarians in conjunction with their building administrators are required to complete the rubric as a means of evaluating their program.
